The Determined Companion

The Bullmastiff is the ultimate watchdog and advocacy excellent nose, strong character and very intelligent.
Who has the honor of having a dog can feel protected. It is a docile dog and extremely reliable, always loyal to his owner and playful with children.

Origin and History

The history of the Bullmastiff began in 1860 in England.
In the late nineteenth century the problem of invasion of large estates has become quite serious and although there are strict laws the issue persisted. Thus landowners have an option for the defense, simple, cheap and efficient known to man, namely the use of dogs and in this context, many breeds were tested.
The Mastiff, though brave and strong, was not fast enough and not so aggressive, and the Bulldog, which was then strong and active, was not large enough for the needs.
There was a need to have dogs brave and silent during the approach of intruders, but controlled enough to attack only by voice command.
To meet these goals we developed a breed between the Bulldog and Mastiff, with genetic proportion of 60% for Mastif and 40% for the Bulldog, thus resulting in "our" Bullmastiff.
Português been recognized by the Kennel Club as purebred in 1924, quickly becoming known in many countries, having been exported from England to Siam, India, Malaysia, Africa and America.
The Bullmastiff is a dog with a strong personality and is very loyal to the owner and possessor of an enviable courage. Were selected over time for guard dogs and was even used as auxiliaries of the army and police.
Today is an excellent companion dog, adapting very well to family life, while maintaining the characteristics of defense and guard.
